The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board is pushing to improve public utility vehicle (PUV) terminals in malls to encourage more people to use public transport.
LTFRB Chairperson Vigor D. Mendoza II said better facilities could support park-and-ride schemes, allowing motorists to leave their cars in mall parking areas and commute via buses or trains.
He noted that many mall terminals currently lack decent waiting areas, making commuting uncomfortable.
Mendoza recently met with mall terminal operators to discuss passenger concerns and public transport reforms, with operators committing to comply with LTFRB requirements.
The LTFRB is optimistic that these improvements will enhance the commuter experience and boost public transport use in Metro Manila.
