Senator Loren Legarda has filed a resolution seeking a Senate inquiry into the implementation of government cash assistance and subsidy programs following reports of alleged irregularities in Batangas.
The resolution cites claims that at least 84 barangays in Taal and Nasugbu were excluded from aid distribution under the “Bawat Barangay Makikinabang” program despite meeting requirements.
Legarda said such reports raise concerns about fairness, transparency, and possible political influence in the delivery of public assistance.
She also called for a thorough investigation by the Office of the President and proposed penalties for officials or individuals found manipulating aid distribution.
The senator stressed that government assistance should be implemented in a safe, non-partisan, and rules-based manner to ensure equitable access for all beneficiaries.
