The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has acted swiftly after discovering a fraudulent salary deduction scheme involving workers from its payroll division.
Chairman Romando Artes confirmed that cases have been filed against the suspects, who used employees’ names to cover up their illegal actions.
The scheme involved diverting small amounts, such as P43, from the salaries of targeted employees into the fraudsters’ accounts.
The crime was uncovered when bank officials noticed suspicious activity in the payroll accounts.
Following the discovery, an investigation was launched, leading to arrests, while MMDA implemented safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
