LAWMAKER BACKS DOH INITIATIVE TO POWER HOSPITALS WITH SOLAR ENERGY

Abra Rep. JB Bernos has expressed support for the Department of Health’s plan to use solar energy in public hospitals and health facilities.

He highlighted that renewable energy (RE) can reduce electricity costs and lower greenhouse gas emissions, helping combat climate change.

DOH Secretary Ted Herbosa noted that hospitals are major energy consumers and that savings from solar power could fund additional medicines and supplies.

Bernos also urged the passage of his House Bill 3126, which mandates on-grid solar energy systems in all government-owned buildings, gradually covering 100% of their energy use over five years.

He emphasized that the government should lead by example in promoting and implementing green policies.
