JAPANESE OFFICIALS SEEK STRONGER PUBLIC SAFETY FROM PNP

The Japanese government has urged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to strengthen public safety amid concerns over robberies and holdups involving firearms in Metro Manila.

Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya appealed during a meeting with acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. at Camp Crame.

Both officials emphasized their commitment to enhancing cooperation on public safety and security.

The call for increased measures follows the deadly shooting of two Japanese tourists in Malate last August.

The suspects in the case reportedly claimed they were hired by a compatriot of the victims.
