The Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported a 12 percent increase in international travel during the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, processing 167,538 passengers on October 31 and November 1, compared to 149,257 during the same period last year.
The surge in travel, attributed to the “Undas” season, led to high passenger volumes at major Philippine airports.
On October 31, there were 41,078 arrivals and 43,341 departures nationwide, with Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 seeing the highest traffic.
The BI also recorded similar figures on November 1, deploying 58 newly appointed immigration officers to manage the increased flow and encouraging travelers to use electronic gates to expedite processing.
Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado praised BI employees for their dedication during the holidays, emphasizing their commitment to secure borders and facilitate smooth travel.
