The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) estimated that about 6,000 people attended a rally in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta as of 3:45 p.m. on July 1.
The gathering, organized by members of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), began at the EDSA Shrine at 9 a.m. with 2,500 police personnel deployed in the area.
The crowd estimate rose from an earlier figure of 4,500.
A separate INC rally on June 30 drew around 15,000 participants despite lacking a permit.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the protest will continue in the coming days.
