Senator Imee Marcos is moving forward with her second public hearing on the legality of former President Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest and transfer to the International Criminal Court (ICC), despite the absence of Cabinet members.
She expressed dissatisfaction with the first hearing’s findings, prompting today’s continuation, though the list of invited resource persons remains undisclosed.
Marcos previously requested the Palace reconsider its decision to not send Cabinet officials to the hearing, arguing their presence is necessary to clarify issues from the first session and address new information.
The Palace, however, maintains that enough information was provided in the March 20 hearing and sees no need for further testimony.
Despite this, Marcos emphasized the Senate’s constitutional right to conduct investigations and questioned the adequacy of the Palace’s responses.
