Senator Imee Marcos was barred by the International Criminal Court (ICC) from visiting former President Rodrigo Duterte in his detention cell at The Hague, according to Vice President Sara Duterte.
The Vice President and her mother visited Duterte to celebrate her upcoming birthday and to support efforts for his release.
Duterte expressed a desire to speak with Marcos, but the ICC denied her access, although Marcos has no official role in his legal case.
Sara Duterte also updated her father on the recent election wins of their political allies, including Marcos herself.
During the visit, the Vice President brought Duterte a can of Coke Zero, which he chose not to drink immediately.
