Incoming Mamamayang Liberal party-list Rep. Leila de Lima urged the Senate to prove that accountability is not optional following the decision to delay the reading of impeachment articles against Vice President Sara Duterte.
She warned that abandoning the process betrays Filipinos who believe in justice and signals that those in power are beyond scrutiny.
De Lima stressed the dangers of ignoring due process and silencing the truth, especially when protecting the powerful.
She vowed that under her watch, such a situation would not be tolerated and called on the Senate leadership to allow the impeachment case to be heard publicly.
De Lima also expressed concern over rumors that the impeachment case might be dismissed without proper consideration, suggesting even the President appears indifferent to the issue.
