Senator Risa Hontiveros criticized fugitive evangelist Apollo Quiboloy for setting conditions on his surrender, including demanding assurance from Malacañang that he would not be extradited to the United States.
Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, faces charges in the US for sex trafficking and is wanted in the Philippines for violating anti-trafficking laws.
His lawyer has requested a written guarantee from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to avoid extradition.
Hontiveros urged Quiboloy to surrender without conditions, accusing him of using his followers as a shield.
The Philippine National Police has been searching Quiboloy’s compound in Davao City since August 24.
