The movie I’m Perfect, which highlights the challenges faced by persons with Down syndrome, won Best Picture at the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal.
Newcomer Krystel Go, who has Down syndrome, made history by winning Best Actress, while Vice Ganda won Best Actor for the film Call Me Mother.
I’m Perfect also received the Best Ensemble Award, marking the first time lead actors with real disabilities were featured in a Filipino film.
Other top winners included Manila’s Finest, which took home eight awards, including Best Cinematography and the Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award, and UnMarry, which won seven awards, including Best Director for Jeffrey Jeturian.
The MMFF 2025 runs until January 14, 2026, giving the winning films a chance to boost their box-office earnings.
