Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa said complaints filed against him over alleged expired medicines and vaccines are part of a “demolition job” by a “mafia” within the Department of Health (DOH).
He made the statement in response to criminal and administrative complaints involving about P1.5 billion in allegedly expired health supplies, filed by a group of DOH personnel.
Herbosa said he has not yet received any formal notice from the Ombudsman and plans to answer the charges once officially served.
He also denied wrongdoing, saying he was not responsible for procuring COVID-19 vaccines and questioning the basis of the allegations.
The complaints claim several medicines and vaccines were left undelivered and expired in storage, which Herbosa said is being used to politically target him.
