HABAGAT, 4 CYCLONES CAUSE P11.92B IN AGRI, INFRA DAMAGE – OCD

The combined effects of the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) and four tropical cyclones have caused an estimated P11.92 billion in damage to agriculture and infrastructure, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported.

Infrastructure losses reached P7.79 billion, while agricultural damage was estimated at P4.13 billion.

The weather disturbances affected 10.2 million people across 6,900 barangays, with 62,300 people staying in evacuation centers.

The death toll rose to 43, with 20 injured and five still missing, while 180 areas were placed under a state of calamity.

The government has provided P2.59 billion in assistance to affected communities.
