OCD LEADS INTER-AGENCY MEETING AS ‘ESTER,’ HABAGAT THREATENS FLOODS, LANDSLIDES

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) convened national government agencies and uniformed services at the NDRRMC Operations Center in Quezon City on June 5 to strengthen preparedness for the combined effects of Tropical Depression Ester and the southwest monsoon (habagat).

The meeting was attended by key agencies, including the DA, AFP, DILG, PAGASA, DSWD, DOH, DOE, and BFP, focusing on coordinated disaster response.

OCD also held a separate briefing with local government units to ensure local readiness.

Authorities said evacuation centers, rapid deployment teams, and relief supplies have been prepositioned for possible flooding, landslides, and other impacts.

PAGASA has issued rainfall warnings in several areas, with Signal No. 1 raised over Batanes due to wind threats.
