Around 300,000 Filipinos benefited from the government’s “Walang Gutom Food Stamp Program” in 2024, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The initiative, which began in 2023, provides food-poor families with electronic transfer cards loaded with ₱3,000 worth of food credits monthly to address involuntary hunger.
DSWD Undersecretary Edu Punay announced plans to scale up the program, targeting an additional 300,000 beneficiaries this year and 400,000 more by 2026 to meet the one-million goal by 2027.
As part of the initiative, the DSWD launched its first “Walang Gutom” Kitchen, a food bank that accepts donations from restaurants and provides free meals to low-income individuals and workers.
The program is a public-private partnership aimed at ensuring no Filipino goes hungry.
