The Department of Energy (DOE) has launched the first batch of its Locally Funded Project–Total Electrification Program (LFP-TEP) for 2025, covering 1,492 households in remote and underserved areas of Luzon and Visayas.
With a total budget of P192.8 million, the program will be implemented by five electric cooperatives: Aklan Electric, Aurora Electric, La Union Electric, Quezon II Electric, and Southern Leyte Electric.
The initiative will deliver power through on-grid connections, microgrids, and hybrid renewable energy solutions to reach far-flung sitios and barangays.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said the program underscores the government’s commitment to closing the electricity access gap and driving inclusive growth in last-mile communities.
The DOE added that more batches of LFP-TEP projects will roll out in 2025 to further expand electrification nationwide.
