“FILM CITY” QCINEMA MARKS QUEZON CITY’S UNESCO HONOR IN STYLE

The 13th QCinema International Film Festival celebrates a historic moment as Quezon City is officially named a UNESCO Creative City of Film, one of the first in Southeast Asia to earn the title.

This year’s festival, themed “Film City,” highlights the city’s pivotal role in Philippine cinema with over 80 local and international films across nine full-length and five short film categories.

Artistic Director Ed Lejano said the lineup reflects “cinema about cinema” — stories that explore filmmaking, creativity, and global realities such as gender issues, war, and climate change.

Among the major sections are Asian Next Wave, RainbowQC, New Horizons, and QCShorts, showcasing a diverse range of bold, thought-provoking films.

Screenings run from November 14 to 23 in major Quezon City cinemas, turning the city into a true hub for world-class filmmaking and cultural expression.
