FILIPINOS FIND IT HARD TO DETECT FAKE NEWS, SURVEY SHOWS

A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that the majority of Filipinos see fake news as a serious issue, with 65% admitting difficulty in identifying misinformation across media platforms.

The survey, commissioned by Stratbase Group, found that 59% viewed fake news on social media as a major problem, while 62% said the same about traditional media.

Additionally, 55% of respondents frequently encountered fake news, highlighting its widespread presence.

Stratbase President Dindo Manhit warned that disinformation manipulates public opinion and threatens democracy, particularly during elections.
