FILIPINO POLICE COLONEL KILLED IN WASHINGTON PLANE CRASH

A Philippine National Police (PNP) officer, Police Col. Pergentino Malabed Jr., was confirmed dead following a catastrophic midair collision with a pass.

Enger plane and a military helicopter over Washington D.C.’s Potomac River on January 30. Malabed, who was on official travel, was aboard American Eagle Flight 5342, which collided with a US Army helicopter near Reagan Washington National Airport, claiming 67 lives in the deadliest US air disaster in over two decades.

The PNP expressed deep sorrow at his passing, noting his dedicated service and offering condolences to his family and colleagues.

The crash involved a flight from Wichita, Kansas, with 60 passengers and four crew members, as well as a military helicopter with three personnel.

Recovery teams have retrieved 28 bodies, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
