FIGHTING LUNG DISEASES REQUIRES UNIFIED ACTION, SAY HEALTH ADVOCATES

Experts emphasized during a lung health summit in Mandaluyong City that collaboration between pharmaceutical companies, medical societies, patient groups, and the government is crucial in addressing lung diseases like asthma, COPD, and lung cancer. 

Dr. Cyril Tolosa of AstraZeneca highlighted their advocacy for lung health, stressing early detection and prevention to improve patients’ quality of life and survival rates. 

The campaign underscores a multidisciplinary approach, combining medical innovation, healthcare professionals’ expertise, patient advocacy, and government resources. 

Dr. Josefina Isidro-Lapeña of the Philippine Academy of Family Physicians emphasized the importance of behavioral and systemic changes in achieving better lung health outcomes. 

Lung cancer survivor Emer Rojas called for a “whole of society approach” to promote education and awareness about lung health.
