Eastern Samar Gov. Ralph Vincent “RV” Evardone thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for committing additional funding to improve healthcare services in the province.
Marcos pledged P100 million for Eastern Samar’s four district hospitals, on top of the P200 million earlier released for the reconstructed Felipe Abrigo Memorial Hospital (FAMH) in Guiuan.
Evardone also requested additional medical equipment, including a CT scan machine, to improve the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of provincial hospitals.
Marcos inspected the rebuilt FAMH, which was destroyed by Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013 and is set to formally reopen on Oct. 7.
The President also vowed to help address the hospital’s shortage of healthcare workers, particularly nurses, to maximize its 50-bed capacity.
