The Office of the Ombudsman has clarified the lifting of the preventive suspension order against Energy Regulatory Commission Chair Monalisa Dimalanta, initially issued on August 20 due to a complaint from the National Association of Electricity Consumers for Reforms.
Although a motion for reconsideration regarding her suspension was denied on October 1, the Ombudsman stated that Dimalanta has submitted her counter-affidavit, and all necessary documents are now with the investigators.
The Ombudsman explained that preventive suspension orders are temporary measures intended to prevent individuals from influencing witnesses or tampering with evidence during an investigation.
It also noted that suspensions may be lifted before the six-month legal limit if the reasons for the suspension have ceased.
The statement underscored the distinction between denying a motion for reconsideration and lifting a preventive suspension.
