The National Water Resources Board will reduce Metro Manila’s water allocation from 50–53 to 44 cubic meters per second starting in October due to preparations for a potential Super El Niño.
Irrigation water allocation will also be cut from 30–35 to 20 cubic meters per second.
NWRB said the cuts aim to conserve Angat Dam’s supply amid possible reduced rainfall from the weather phenomenon.
The agency urged MWSS and water providers to use alternative sources, including Laguna Lake, Cavite, and Parañaque treatment facilities.
The public was also asked to conserve water to help maintain a reliable supply during the expected dry conditions.
