The Philippines will host its first-ever WTA Tour event, the Philippine Women’s Open, from January 26-31, 2026, giving Filipina tennis star Alex Eala a potential home tournament.
The WTA 125-level event was announced as part of the 2026 tour calendar, following Eala’s historic rise into the world’s Top 50 in 2025.
The Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Tennis Association are organizing the event, with possible venues including the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center and the upcoming Philippine Tennis Center in New Clark City.
Eala, however, may face a scheduling conflict as she is also set to compete in the 2026 Australian Open from January 12 to February 1.
The home tournament would mark her first chance to play before Filipino fans after achieving milestones abroad, including a WTA 125 title and a Grand Slam main-draw win.
