Filipina tennis star Alex Eala won her first Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) title at the 2025 Guadalajara Open, overcoming Hungary’s Panna Udvardy with a 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 comeback victory.
Despite a slow start and losing the first set decisively, Eala rallied in the second set and seized momentum to dominate the final set.
The 20-year-old, ranked 75th globally, showcased resilience and skill after falling behind early.
This win caps a historic year for Eala, who earlier became the first Filipina to win a Grand Slam main draw match in the Open era.
She is now set to compete in the Sao Paulo Open in Brazil next month.
