DOT CALLS FOR REGIONAL COLLABORATION TO BOOST ASIA’S CRUISE TOURISM

The Department of Tourism (DOT) hosted the Asia Cruise Cooperation (ACC) Annual Regional Meeting, calling for stronger regional collaboration to guide the next phase of Asia’s cruise tourism growth.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco emphasized that coordination among destinations, ports, and cruise lines is essential for sustainable, inclusive, and community-beneficial tourism.

Established in 2016, the ACC connects Hong Kong, Taiwan, select Chinese ports, the Philippines, and South Korea to develop itineraries, share market intelligence, and promote cruise tourism.

Frasco highlighted the Philippines’ efforts, including nearly 7,000 cruise visa waivers, ongoing port development, and plans to reconstitute the Cruise Tourism Development Committee in 2026.

With 136 cruise calls already scheduled and over 43,000 projected sea arrivals, the country is positioning itself as a key player in Asia’s growing cruise market.
