The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) has pledged to tighten the screening process for foreign workers applying for alien employment permits (AEPs) following raids on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) employing undocumented or fraudulent workers.
Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma announced increased inspections and a data-sharing agreement with the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to prevent illegal workers from entering the country.
Required documents for AEP applicants include a passport photocopy, employment contract, and appropriate visas.
Laguesma emphasized that granting AEPs to foreigners would not displace qualified Filipino workers.
The DoLE is also collaborating with other agencies to update policies on AEP issuance.
