The Department of Justice (DOJ) plans to request a red notice from Interpol against former presidential spokesman Harry Roque, who is currently seeking asylum in the Netherlands.
DOJ Undersecretary Nicholas Ty said Roque is considered a fugitive due to an outstanding arrest warrant for qualified human trafficking linked to the operations of the shuttered Lucky South 99 POGO hub in Pampanga.
While preparing the necessary documents, DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano said the agency is also exploring other legal avenues, including requesting Roque’s expulsion from the Netherlands.
However, DOJ chief state counsel Dennis Chan clarified that Interpol action may be delayed as Roque’s asylum bid takes precedence.
Roque has claimed his legal troubles stem from political persecution by the Marcos administration.
