The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) against gambling tycoon Charlie “Atong” Ang, actress Gretchen Barretto, retired Lt. Gen. Jonnel Estomo, and over 50 others linked to the disappearance and alleged killing of more than 100 cockfight enthusiasts or sabungeros.
Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla confirmed the move, citing whistleblower Julie “Don-Don” Patidongan’s affidavit that implicated Ang as the mastermind and tagged Barretto as knowing the crimes.
DOJ prosecutor-general Richard Anthony Fadullon said the evaluation of complaints filed by victims’ relatives has been completed, with a preliminary investigation set to proceed next week.
The ILBO will allow authorities to monitor the respondents’ movements, while a court-issued Precautionary Hold Departure Order may also be sought if necessary.
Patidongan, now under witness protection, earlier claimed the victims were strangled and dumped in Taal Lake after being accused of cheating in cockfights.
