Former DPWH District Engineer Henry Alcantara is now under the protective custody of the Department of Justice’s Witness Protection Program, Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida confirmed on January 21.
Alcantara was turned over to the DOJ by the Senate after being designated a state witness in the flood control scandal.
He is among four officials and a contractor admitted as state witnesses earlier this month, including contractor Sally Santos, former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, and Gerard Opulencia.
Alcantara has returned P181 million in ill-gotten wealth linked to the alleged anomalous flood control projects.
Details about his exact location under the witness protection program were not disclosed for security reasons.
