The DHSUD is studying a law to exempt economic housing projects from corporate income tax, aiming to provide a clearer and more predictable tax incentive framework.
Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the department is coordinating with the DTI-BOI to support mass housing projects compliant with Batas Pambansa Bilang 220.
The move aligns with the government’s goal of expanding affordable housing while simplifying regulatory processes for priority sectors, especially the working class.
The DHSUD plans to form a Technical Working Group to evaluate and craft policy recommendations, building on recent revenue orders that streamlined tax exemptions for housing projects.
Aliling said the initiative is expected to speed up housing development, improve inter-agency coordination, and enhance transparency in incentives for economic housing.
