The Department of Education (DepEd) has launched its ₱105.7-billion public-private partnership program to address the country’s classroom shortage by building more than 16,000 classrooms.
Under Phase 3 of the School Infrastructure Project, the private sector will design, construct, and maintain over 3,500 classrooms across Luzon through three contract packages.
The project will be implemented under a build-lease-transfer scheme, with construction expected to take about 17 months once it begins next year.
DepEd said the PPP aims to reduce overcrowding, improve learning conditions, and benefit up to 800,000 students annually.
The program is the largest classroom PPP in the country’s history and is expected to generate significant government savings.
