The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will begin seedling replacement and transplantation activities next week, following tree cutting along Quirino Avenue in Manila.
The agency said the project proponent voluntarily halted the cutting as part of the ongoing Southern Access Link Expressway road project linked to the Skyway.
DENR Assistant Secretary Norlito Eneran said around 50,700 native tree seedlings will be planted across several areas in Manila to help rehabilitate affected sites.
He added that proper procedures, such as earth-balling and tree assessment, are being ensured in the process.
Identified planting sites include Mehan Garden, Plaza Dilao, Manila Boys Town complex, Taft Avenue, Rizal Avenue, and Roxas Boulevard.
