DENGVAXIA CASES MOVE FORWARD AS QC JUDGE SETS HEARING

A Quezon City court has scheduled a hearing on March 25 to address various motions in the second batch of 35 Dengvaxia cases, following a Supreme Court directive.

Judge Cecilyn Burgos-Villavert of RTC Branch 102 will first rule on procedural matters before tackling the merits of the cases.

The trial follows a controversial dismissal of the first batch of cases by another judge, which the Office of the Solicitor General has challenged before the Court of Appeals.

Key motions to be heard include a bid to quash charges based on double jeopardy by Sanofi executives and similar motions from other accused officials.

Former Health Secretary and now Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin, along with executives from vaccine firms and government agencies, remain at the center of the legal battle.
