The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved 4,000 additional teaching positions to complete the government’s 2025 target of hiring 20,000 new public school teachers.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said the new Teacher I positions, funded through DepEd’s budget under the 2025 General Appropriations Act, will help address staffing gaps in senior high, elementary, kindergarten, and junior high levels.
The move supports President Marcos’ directive to strengthen public education, especially as 27.6 million students returned to school last week.
Meanwhile, the DILG reported that over 77 percent of LGUs nationwide used at least 85 percent of their Special Education Fund to improve school infrastructure.
These efforts collectively aim to enhance the quality and capacity of the Philippine public education system.
