A Manila court has voided Alice Guo’s mayorship of Bamban, Tarlac, ruling that she is “undoubtedly a Chinese citizen” and thus disqualified from holding public office.
The court found that Guo, identified as Guo Hua Ping, assumed the identity of a Filipino citizen to meet eligibility requirements, with fingerprint evidence confirming her Chinese nationality.
The ruling declared her proclamation as mayor null and void, labeling her a usurper of the position.
The decision followed a quo warranto petition filed by the Office of the Solicitor General, supported by expert testimony from the National Bureau of Investigation.
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian welcomed the ruling, calling for continued government action against Guo and her associates to protect national security and uphold the law.
