COMELEC LOGS RECORD 888K VOTERS IN 4 DAYS

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has recorded 888,042 voter registrants as of August 4, just four days into the 10-day registration period for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

The polls, originally set for December 2025, have been moved to November 2026, extending village and youth officials’ terms to four years.

Comelec Chair George Erwin Garcia hailed it as the “most successful voter registration in history” and expects numbers to rise further with the pilot launch of the “Anywhere, Anytime Registration Program” (AARP) in Metro Manila.

Central Luzon led regional signups with over 208,000 registrants, followed by Calabarzon and NCR.

The AARP, limited to NCR for now, brings registration services to hospitals, airports, and workplaces—even at night.
