The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has authorized candidates in the May 12 elections to print and distribute sample ballots, but strictly prohibited the use of the Comelec logo.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia emphasized that both candidates and their supporters must avoid using the official logo, warning that unauthorized use could result in legal consequences.
He also clarified that sample ballots should not closely resemble official ballots in terms of color, style, or appearance, as this would violate election laws.
Additionally, Garcia reminded candidates that distributing sample ballots on election day or the day before is prohibited, as it falls under the campaign ban period.
He also warned against the use of children to hand out sample ballots, citing concerns about their exploitation due to their lack of criminal liability.
