CLASSES RESUME JAN. 5 AS DEPED CONFIRMS 16-DAY HOLIDAY BREAK

The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that students will have a 16-day Christmas break from Dec. 20 to Jan. 4, with classes resuming on Jan. 5 next year.

DepEd said the schedule follows DepEd Order No. 12 issued by Secretary Sonny Angara, which sets multi-year guidelines for the school calendar of public schools and community learning centers.

The circular aims to help schools efficiently plan activities while maximizing instructional time in line with the Marcos administration’s socioeconomic and education reform agendas.

Meanwhile, DepEd is set to expand broadcast-based learning through the soft launch of DepEd TV in partnership with Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc. and Solar Learning.

Angara said DepEd TV will deliver curriculum-based lessons nationwide to support learning recovery, including areas with limited or no internet access.
