Manila Mayor Isko Moreno launched a campaign to remove tangled overhead cables, commonly called “spaghetti wires,” that clutter the city.
Telecommunication, cable, and power companies were ordered to clear out abandoned and unused wires that block views and pose safety risks.
Utility firms must get approval from Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) and the city government before attaching wires to electric posts.
Meralco expressed full support for the campaign, pledging to continue until all tangled wires are removed.
The effort follows previous cleanup initiatives and is backed by regulations from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority to manage cable installations.
