China cautioned Britain against stoking tensions after UK Foreign Minister David Lammy criticized Beijing’s actions in the South China Sea as “dangerous and destabilizing.”
Lammy’s remarks, made in part from a Philippine Coast Guard vessel, condemned Beijing’s aggressive behavior in disputed waters.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning urged the UK to respect China’s territorial claims and avoid interfering in regional matters.
This comes amid escalating maritime confrontations between China and the Philippines, as Beijing continues to deploy vessels to assert its claims.
Meanwhile, the UK and the Philippines signed a joint framework to enhance defense and maritime cooperation, aligning Manila with other partners like the U.S., Australia, and Japan.
