Cebu Pacific, under the leadership of the Gokongwei family, announced its historic $24-billion purchase order with Airbus for up to 152 A321neo jets, marking the largest deal in Philippine aviation history.
The binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed with Airbus supersedes Boeing in securing the deal, with finalization expected by the third quarter of this year.
The agreement includes up to 102 A321neo and 50 A320neo aircraft, powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, providing flexibility to adapt to market demands.
CEO Michael Szucs emphasized the order’s strategic flexibility amidst projected air travel growth, following Cebu Pacific’s plans to expand its fleet disclosed earlier this year.
