Canada is investing CAD 76.4 million (around PHP 3.2 billion) in 12 new development projects in the Philippines, focusing on disaster resilience, climate action, food and water security, and energy stability.
The funding will also support sexual and reproductive health services, combat malnutrition, and aid children affected by conflict.
Key projects include boosting small and women-led enterprises, strengthening climate-resilient food systems, and improving ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction.
Canadian Secretary of State for International Development Randeep Sarai highlighted the investment as one of Canada’s largest under its Indo-Pacific Strategy, emphasizing support for local leadership and sustainable development.
Canada has also been a consistent donor to the Philippines, funding programs that enhance livelihoods, biodiversity protection, and access to family planning and reproductive health services.
