Brazil is being seen as the Philippines’ strategic gateway to Latin America, as both nations aim to strengthen trade and economic ties, according to Brazilian Ambassador to the Philippines, Gilberto Fonseca Guimarães de Moura.
Bilateral trade between the two countries has surged, reaching USD2.4 billion in 2024, a 31% increase from the previous year.
De Moura emphasized the vast potential in their over 70-year relationship, highlighting Brazil’s role as a bridge to Latin America for the Philippines.
The Brazilian Embassy has recently appointed an agriculture attaché to promote trade, particularly in food products.
Beyond trade, the two countries are also exploring cooperation in renewable energy, science and technology, outer space, and education.
