BONG GO PUSHES FOR RELEASE OF ₱200B SIN TAX FUNDS TO PHILHEALTH

Senator Bong Go urged the release of around ₱200 billion in earmarked Sin Tax funds to PhilHealth, emphasizing that the allocation could expand healthcare coverage and save lives.

He criticized the diversion of PhilHealth’s excess funds to the national treasury, calling it morally unacceptable and unconstitutional.

Go highlighted gaps in PhilHealth’s financial support revealed in 14 oversight hearings, stressing that low-income families continue to face challenges accessing affordable care.

He warned that withholding these funds stalls the full implementation of the Universal Health Care Act.

Go called on health agencies to maximize PhilHealth resources to ensure that insurance benefits reach the poorest Filipinos.
