The Philippine Marines and the Army’s 6th Infantry Division have pledged to enhance their collaboration on peacebuilding projects in Maguindanao del Norte and Cotabato City.
Major Gen. Arturo Rojas, the commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps, met with Army Major Gen. Antonio Nafarrete at Camp Siongco to discuss strengthening their joint efforts to sustain peace and improve the local business environment.
The 1st Marine Brigade, which operates in several towns in Maguindanao del Norte and all barangays in Cotabato City, is under the operational control of the 6th ID.
Nafarrete emphasized their commitment to support local government initiatives aimed at maintaining peace, which has been bolstered by cooperation among Moro, non-Moro, and Indigenous communities.
In recent years, Marine and Army units have successfully mediated family feuds and facilitated the surrender of over 50 members of outlawed groups like the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and Dawlah Islamiya.
