The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will begin deploying official ballots for the May 12 midterm elections tomorrow.
Ballots will be sent directly to city and municipal treasurers’ offices, with the first deliveries going to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Batanes.
As of yesterday, about 95% of the total 68.5 million ballots have undergone verification, and the Comelec plans to complete the deployment by the end of the month.
The Final Testing and Sealing (FTS) for election equipment will take place from May 2 to 10, with voting machines to be sealed until Election Day.
Meanwhile, the Comelec is investigating four candidates for illegal campaigning during Holy Week, including reports of vote buying in Quezon City, and emphasized that those facing election offenses may be disqualified even if they win.
