Bacolod City is set to open the first local government unit-managed TESDA training center in Western Visayas to address workforce skill gaps and support local economic growth.
Mayor Greg Gasataya and city officials recently coordinated with TESDA to advance the project, which will focus on high-demand sectors such as digital technology, renewable energy, healthcare, and agri-industry.
A key part of the initiative is the creation of a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council to guide program planning and ensure alignment with labor market needs.
The council will help determine training priorities, manage budgeting, and oversee the center’s operations in partnership with TESDA.
The new center aims to benefit both Bacolod residents and nearby communities by offering industry-driven courses that respond to local employment demands.
