Australia will continue its development support to the Philippines even after the country attains upper-middle income status, Ambassador HK Yu announced.
Despite the Philippines’ expected graduation and potential loss of official development assistance (ODA) privileges, Australia plans to find ways to maintain its aid programs.
Australia currently provides around PHP3.3 billion annually in bilateral aid, including multi-year projects in peace and security, social protection, disaster management, and justice reform.
A new development partnership plan, agreed with the Philippine government, guides these efforts and aligns with the country’s development goals.
Ambassador Yu emphasized that Australia’s support is ongoing and will continue to help advance the Philippines’ economic and social progress.
